To Count Calories or Not?
One of the first questions you will ask of any nutrition solution is “How much can I eat?”.
Food labels – what is on the packet is almost never accurate. There’s an allowable variance, it may be +/- 10-20%.
Absorption – our bodies don’t absorb all the calories we eat.
Food preparation – Uncooked food has less calorie absorption, cooked and blended foods more.
Individual variation – you are unique, we help you understand what is right for you.
Gut bacteria can increase or decrease absorption.
Individual error – even if we buy the right amount, we aren’t good at getting our serving size right.
Sustainability – Stick with the plan to get result. You stop training you get unfit, stop eating well, you get overweight!
There is no right or wrong answer here! It depends on you as you are an ndividual, where you are at in your nutrition journey, and what your goals are. That is why the ‘one size fits all’ diet does not work.
If you are going to count calories, know that there is variation in the foods you eat, the way you count your calories, and if it fits into your lifestyle! Our coaches are there to answer these and any other questions you may have.
We can work with you in person or online to achieve success for you, schedule a goal setting appointment with a CrossFit Ickenham staff member (here).
